Public colleges in Canada are the number 1 option for you to obtain the best academic and hands-on education and at the same time be ready to obtain a job offer within the 3 months after your graduation. Also, it is the best option if you want to obtain a Canadian permanent resident under the CEC (Canadian Experience Class) option.
Applying to a public college in Canada will allow you to study and work at the same time (work part-time during the semesters of studies, and work full-time during the vacation period).

UNDERSTANDING
CONCEPTS
1
One year of a program will be considered 8 months long (this is the minimum time to study to be considered by the government of Canada). Although the program will state that its duration is one-year, the length will depend on how many semesters a year has.
2
A semester is 4 months long. Even if the public college state the term as a semester this one is considered 4 months long. This is important to know because your payment will be based on each semester basis. Please, talk to us about this to understand better the system.
3
Apply at least 6-8 months in advance. We know that sounds too early but programs fill out very fast. A series of documents will be needed to apply for a college and gathering them can take time. So be ready if you want to enter at the right time for you.
4
Colleges have 3 intakes or start dates per year. All programs are offered starting in September (called fall semester), some busy programs are also offered in January (called winter semester), and a few of them in May (called summer semester). Check with us, which intake is your program available.
5
You can bring your family with you. Once you applied for your study permit and it is approved, your partner (married certificate or common-law certificate if needed) and kids can accompany you. Your partner will be able to work full time and your children (4 years and more) can go to school for free.
